1969 Country Folk Rock Pre-Flight

Way back in 1969, long before The Eagles, Los Angeles, California friends and roommates Glen Fry and J.D. Souther formed the country folk rock duo Longbranch Pennywhistle and released their self titled debut album in 1970 on Jimmy Bowen’s Amos Records. In addition to Souther and Fry the 10 track LP featured some of the hottest L.A. session players of the day including TCB Band’s James Burton, Ry Cooder Buddy Emmons, Larry Knechtel, Jim Gordon and Doug Kershaw. Unfortunately for Fry and Souther the Amos Records label dissolved in 1971 and the group disbanded shortly thereafter.
